Move me!

Move me! is a logical follow-up to the method The Class Moves!®. The Class Moves!® offers basic skills for use in the classroom. The Move me! method integrates these basic skills into the child’s daily life. Move me! is geared towards individual efforts both in school, out of school and in the pupil’s home situation. The method motivates responsible and involved movement, with assignments both for in the classroom and at home. The aim is to become aware of the importance of one’s own activity, effectiveness, social support and ability to plan.

Just like with The Class Moves!® the assignments are challenging and extremely varied, ranging from drawing the sport of your dreams to exactly measuring just how much time is spent on being active.

Move me! is a personal student book for all levels of primary education. The method is supported by a concise teacher’s manual and a poster in the classroom.

The personal student’s book includes attractive fill-in assignments that can be carried out on your own, in the classroom with the teacher and at home with parents. The students answer questions, place stickers, collect information, draw, make things and give performances. The individual achievements are tracked on a poster in the classroom.

The method has four phases: observation, awareness, stimulation and planning activity. There are 40 assignments, one for each week of the school year. Every week a student is nominated to be the coach of the week! It is a fully prepared and complete lesson package.

Jump-in
The Move me! method was developed in the context of Jump-in, the programme for stimulating activity in primary education in Amsterdam. The municipal service for social development and the municipal health services (GGD) initiated the Jump-in. Many primary schools in Amsterdam participate in the programme. At the moment, the first results of Move me! are being researched by the University of Amsterdam. The definitive version of Move me! is expected in 2010.
