The Class Moves!®

The Class Moves!® is a playful method teaching children posture, movement and relaxation in their daily work environment. The basic idea is that the teacher allows for the class to let off steam when the maximum level of effort has been reached. The activity provides a break in the attention span of both the teacher and the children, allowing them to return to the lesson with full concentration thereafter.

The Class Moves!® consists of seven calendars and seven manuals, one for each year in primary school. In each calendar there are nine months. Each calendar page introduces a new active theme: for example, in all groups, stability is the theme for February; in September, it’s expressing emotion; and in March balance. The difficulty of the exercises is adapted to the developmental stage of the children, and hence varies from year to year. The tenth month, which is left out for the Years 1 and 2, is intended for repeating all exercises from the preceding months.

The Class Moves!® is a perfect fit to a great portion of the aims for primary education:

1 Responsible approach to work;
2 Social and emotional development;
3 Self expression;
4 Physical self awareness;
5 Stimulation of health;
6 Motor skill development.

Besides the English version, our method is also available in Dutch: De klas beweegt!®, Welsh: Symud Y Dosbarth!® and German: Klasse in Bewegung!®.
